A Typical Sequence

A project may move through editorial preparation, page design, typesetting, cover design, proof review and production. Permissions, image sourcing and publication details should be addressed early. Work can overlap, but late text changes often affect layout and cost.

What Drives Cost

Length, complexity, number of illustrations, editorial intervention, correction rounds, print quantity, paper, binding and freight all affect the budget. Ask for a quotation that distinguishes included work from optional additions and later changes.

ISBNs and Distribution

An ISBN identifies a particular publication edition and format; it does not provide copyright protection or guarantee bookshop distribution. Different formats may need different ISBNs. Platform setup, marketing and distribution need their own plan and agreement.
