Structure, Sentences and Proofs

Structural editing considers organisation and development. Copy-editing works on language, consistency and clarity. Proofreading examines the laid-out or near-final text for remaining errors. These tasks overlap in practice, so a quotation should explain what is included.

A Collaborative Writing Role

Co-authoring or substantial rewriting goes beyond correcting a manuscript. Agree the intended contribution, voice, source material, responsibilities and approval process. Credit, ownership and confidentiality should be settled in the commissioning agreement.

A Useful First Enquiry

Share a representative extract, approximate word count, intended readers and current stage. Identify any specialist review, references, permissions or research needed. Do not assume a language edit includes factual or religious verification.
